Under 18 Cambridge Band Competition Winners 2017! NMG Awards Breakthrough Group 2017!
Sunlight for Honey produce guitar-driven dark and heavy Alternative rock, with heavy piano rock ballads. The sound is influenced by David Bowie, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Radiohead, Marilyn Manson, Black Sabbath and King Crimson. Guitar influences include Randy Rhodes, David Gilmour, Jimi Hendrix, Slash and Robert Fripp. Louis started writing songs age 10 and got together with his bass player when they were age 12 and 13. Local label and promoter R*E*P*E*A*T was tipped off by someone who spotted Louis and Adam Pollard (bass) busking, and invited them to perform at local rock venue, The Portland Arms and at local rock festival, ‘Strawberry Fair’. These gigs helped Louis to meet up and work with other musicians, that helped him develop both as a songwriter and performer. Suitably inspired, Louis spotted Adam Vining playing in ‘Stormdreamer’ at one of these gigs and invited him to play with Maverick. When changing schools he met (drummer) James D’Alessandro who joined up with the band and the current line-up started gigging almost immediately. They went into record the EP ‘Uneasy Seasons’ only six months later at Bluebarn studios. A PledgeMusic campaign was launched which exceeded its target within a matter of days, one of the backers was Kimberley Rew (writer of Eurovision smash 'Walking on Sunshine'). Maverick are set to record again within the next few months, having recently won the Under 18 Cambridge Band Competition. Supports include 'Saints of Sin', 'High Treason' and 'iDestroy' at The Rock Den and 'Massive Wagons' and 'Marty Mayhem and the Liabilities' at Melbourn Rock Club, 'Walkway' at The Diss Cue Club and 'Coco and the Butterfields' at Cambridge Junction.
